Ciara Arnette … the Voice of a true Prima Donna
American singer
Ciara Arnette uses her voice to express her deepest emotions. With plenty of phrasal swing, a full, husky voice and a particularly wide vocal range, she sings even in the lowest registers using powerful clarity. With elegance and charm, she adheres to
the great tradition of the best black American jazz singers. Her warm and sensual voice reminds many of Sarah Vaughan, Carmen McRae, Nina Simone or even Jimmy Scott. Spectators around the world have been captivated by her warm, rich vocal style and remarkable phrasing. In her repertory: Duke Ellington, Johnny Mercer, Elvis Costello, etc.
As soon as she walks on stage, we discover an artist infused with sensuality: her songs are stories of love, as in "You'll be the First to Know," with lyrics she wrote herself to a melody by
Benny Golson. Her looks, smiles and little dance steps that accompany her solos express the unequivocally tight bond she holds with her musicians. She met Patrick Filleul (drums) and David Salesse (double bass) during a singing competition that she won. While in Rome, Italy, she encountered her pianist, Giovanni Ceccarelli.
